Monday nights are designed for those sewers ready to tackle more complex sewing
This class is designed for you to bring your own projects to life! Whether you’re working on clothing, accessories, or any other creative idea, this class provides the space, tools, and guidance to help you bring your vision to reality. Perfect for intermediate and experienced makers alike—come join us and create something uniquely yours!
About your tutor
I am a self-taught dressmaker who is passionate about showing others how to make
bespoke home wares and sewn garments.
I love everything about fabric/textiles and am particularly passionate about reusing fabric,
especially denim, linen, cotton and silk. Op-shopping has become a great way for me to
indulge my passion without breaking the bank!
I make my own clothes, and am into patchwork and quilting, embroidery and fabric dyeing. I
love sharing my knowledge and seeing others “catch the sewing bug”!
With me, you’ll discover how to make unique sewn creations from scratch, and learn how to
operate a sewing machine, moving from the basics to creating your final project.
You will learn about different fabrics and their properties, how to select the right fabric for
your project and how to be confident that you have enough fabric.
Discover how to make measurements and adapt a pattern for a garment in your own size
and how to work out which size to cut out.
Then you will take a simple garment/project to the next level using buttonholes, zips,
topstitching, binding, frills etc
My aim is that at the end of this course you will have found the joy and satisfaction that
creating with fabric brings, and to build confidence to continue sewing on your own.
Essential supplies to bring with you:
You will need to purchase/bring your own -
Good sharp dressmaking scissors (or rotary cutter, self-
healing cutting mat and special ruler)
Small sharp snipping scissors
Seam ripper (quick unpick)
Tape measure

Bernina thread bobbin (if you are going to use our school Bernina machine)

needs to be achievable within your skill
At least 3 metres of white drafting Vilene if taking a pattern off one of mine
Fabric scraps (for practicing stitches or piecing to make larger pieces of fabric)
Please note! All your fabrics, whether new or op shop bought need
to be washed
